Uh-oh.

I, uhhhh, dropped the camera last night. And I bent the lens.

Oops.

(Before and After post coming tomorrow - and it's a "doosey".)

Happy Saturday!

23 before 24

I thought that I'd share my 23 goals before I turn 24:

I tried to make reasonable goals this year: I didn't get many of last year's goals accomplished. So far, I've gotten a few done... I'll share as time goes on :)

Here are a couple of recent projects: a large painting for one of my besties, and a yarn flower arrangement for Style School:

Trendy Chicks

Hope everyone is having a great week so far...

Here are a few spring trends for 2010 - I combined the trends with my Polyvore loves post... thought you'd enjoy the visuals :)

First up, stripes are staying pretty darn hot. I jazzed up this b-e-a-u-tiful jacket with a nautical themed skirt and bracelet. The white peep toes could take the outfit from day to evening.
stripes
This is one of my favourite trends: florals. They are so pretty and feminine, and you can grab any colour from a piece and work it. I pulled the turquoise from the skirt and tied it in with a fun bracelet and cardigan. The light handbag keeps the outfit grounded.
florals
Ruffles are a fun way to work some lady-like style into your wardrobe. This outfit would be perfect for a spring or summer wedding - the colours are light, and it's such a classy way to show up all the other girls :) The teacup ring stole my heart...
ruffles
Next up we have a more casual trend: ripped jeans. Looks like they are here to stay. Yellow and white are also quite trendy this year... love this gingham blouse! The dark brown belt (worn over the shirt, of course), flats, and wooden necklace make this a fun way to chill.

Last but not least: the safari look. I love simple shirtdresses paired with gladiators and giant sunglasses. Toss on a statement necklace and you've got yourself one cute outfit! P.S. the tooled leather handbag makes me melt.

Hope you enjoyed our little trip through the field of spring and summer trends... Let me know what you think!

Changed Plans and The Week Ahead

Funny how plans change, eh?

We were going to travel to see our friends this weekend, but the roads were really dangerous: two major accidents between home and their city. The highway was closed for several hours, so we decided it wasn't worth the risk... tomorrow I'll have pictures of how we spent the weekend instead.

I've got some big plans this week - most of which I'll share with you on this blog! The biggest project is a revamp of this:

  • My Etsy shop is getting some serious love this week. I'll share my work in progress, along with some product shots.
  • I'm aiming on doing a DIY post as well this week - something fun for you to create!
  • There's a spring/summer trends post in the works, some really pretty shots to inspire your wardrobe and work with what you have with only a few new pieces mixed in.
  • I'm redoing the art wall in our living room, so that will be a fun before and after post.

  • It's time for my monthly "what's in my bag" post - colourful looking-for-spring edition :)
  • Last but not least, I'll be sharing my 23 before 24 list... most are little goals and plans, but there are a few bigger aims thrown into the mix.

As always, I'll share my Polyvore loves and a recipe or two. Looking forward to this exciting week with you!

Happy Sunday!

Mmm, Mmm

I'm going to share one of the tastiest cookies on the web: Homemade Oreos. I made these for my hubby, and found the recipe via this lady and this lady. They're both geniuses. You must make these. You will be rewarded :)

Yummy crinkly chocolate cookies

Delicious icing

The finished product

The cookies aren't the exact same as Oreos, but they are a mean home made version. You won't regret making them. Okay, maybe your waistline will.

Happy Thursday!

Time for a giggle.

Jim:
[dressed like Dwight] Question: What kind of bear is best?
Dwight: That’s a ridiculous question…
Jim: False. Black bear.
Dwight: That’s debatable, there are basically two schools of thought…
Jim: Fact: bears eat beets. Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica.

Dwight:
It was only a cat.
Angela: You don’t like them.
Dwight: Cats do not provide milk nor wool or meat.

Polyvore Loves

Hope you all had a "love"ly weekend! Our was terrific, but it flew by.

Last night, D made supper - sweet potato, sauteed zukes and mushrooms, grilled chicken, and homemade salsa, and I made cream puffs for dessert.

We always like to exchange a cute personal gift - I got the Paper Heart DVD (break my heart, Michael Cera, eh Kel?) and a beautiful bouquet of flowers - bold and bright, my fave. I had my friend do a little photo shoot and gave my hubby a framed shot of me - which is a huge deal because I really dislike getting my photo taken. He loved it, though, so it was worth it :)

Tonight I thought I'd share an outfit that I wish I was fierce enough to wear. This combo rocks! Exposed zippers and seams, heavy-dooder hardware, and killer patent pumps. Rarrrrr... This time I included the price and brand details so you can catch a glimpse of my expensive taste - if only...

One day to go until Valentine's Day!

Countdown: Four Days

Today's countdown post has a couple odds and ends...

Here's a sneak peek from my secret mission today - Operation Creative V-Day Gift. My friend Lana took a neat shot of my boots (you'll see the rest on Sunday):

In other V-day news, all of my mailable (is that a word?!) Valentine cards have been made, and the stamps have been bought - the "nonmailables" aka work cards are good old Hello Kitty. Tonight's agenda includes notes and addressing envelopes. Here are the homemade cards:

Countdown: Five Days

Countdown: Six Days

In honor of the holiday of lovers, I'll be doing a Valentine's Day countdown this week :)

To start off, I decided to go back to the basics with a "Polyvore Loves" post - haven't seen that in a while, eh? I picked out a cute outfit that I could definitely find in my closet for a date night:

denim leggings: check
plaid tunic: check
sparkly hair pins: check
cute flats: check
white handbag: check
Valentine's Day
We usually "rock out" to a pretty calm and quiet holiday, so this outfit would be perfect for a night in or night out. My hubby made fantastic suppers for me for the past two years - celebrity chef inspired :) 2008 - Rachael Ray, 2009 - Michael Smith. Am I spoiled or what?

Happy Monday!

Recipe Time

I rediscovered one of my old "tried and true" recipes tonight and thought that I'd share it with you. I found this peanut sauce recipe in Cheap Fast Good - a cookbook that we got as a wedding shower gift. The recipe is great as is for a dipping sauce, but I add chicken broth to thin it to a pasta sauce consistency. It's great to use for stir-fries or pasta dishes -it's super versatile. We used it in pasta tonight - whole wheat linguine, chicken thighs, onion, button mushrooms, green pepper and fresh ginger:

Suppertime!

Before you drool on your keyboards, here's the recipe:

Thai Style Peanut Sauce
4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
Juice of 1/2 lemon/lime
1/2 c peanut butter
1/4 c ketchup
1/4 c soy sauce
1/4 c brown sugar
2 tbsp vegetable oil (I don't add - there's enough oil in the pb)
4 tsp fresh ginger, minced
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

My shortened method: combine, heat, enjoy :)

Can be refrigerated for 1 week, frozen for 1 month. Defrost in refrigerator overnight - do not defrost in microwave (it separates and gets "explode-y")

Happy Thursday!

Craftacular Sunday

Today was a terrific day - I got to craft all afternoon! Some things were for Style School, some were gifts, and some were just because. I organized my spare room, and I'll share photos tomorrow.

Here is my pincushion for Freckled Nest's world wide swap... everyone that signs up makes a pincushion, we'll trade names, and then send them off. It should be fun!

Front

Back

I've got a busy day planned for tomorrow: post office, doctor's appointment, trip to my parents, and back to work at 5:00. It's an energetic start to the week, that's for sure.

Happy Sunday!
