Valentines Day Freebies

My goodness, Valentine's Day snuck up on me! I don't know about you, but I can't believe that it's this Friday. Dan and I don't typically do a whole lot for Valentine's Day, as we like to go on special little dates and day trips as often as possible regardless of the time of year or applicable holiday. I'd like to surprise him with a valentine and a sweet treat or two, and maybe we can create a special meal together at home this year.

I'm a big fan of finding classy free printables online, since I always have a supply of thick white cardstock and printer ink at home. When you have those simple items, it's easy to share a quick Valentine's Day goodie with your friends or lover. Why not think of a special man or woman in your life and bring them a little something, with a free printable attached? I know that I'd be excited to get a treat from someone who was thinking especially of me.

Valentine's Day Decor

Although February 14th's holiday is one of my favourites, I was determined to only decorate this year with items that I had on hand. I didn't go overboard - one little decorated mantel and a new message on the chalkboard in our kitchen. The chalkboard still had a Christmas message written on it - shows how often I change it.

For our mantel (aka the top of our organ), I took a set of three white wood trees leftover from Christmas  that I bought in December as a little "hooray, school's over!" present to myself with money from the Christmas craft fair I was involved in. An adorable set of birds and heart that we received from Kelsie for our wedding anniversary added some loveliness and a few other items finished it off. Bam - little love corner in our living room.

Happy Valentine's Day! I woke up this morning and Dan was already gone to work. When I went out into the kitchen, there was a huge breakfast on the table with a beautiful flower arrangement and note. He got up at 6:00 and got everything ready for me when I was sleeping! What a surprise - we don't usually do much for V-day, so I was especially blown away. SPOILED!

I hope you have the loveliest of days today with your loved ones - family, friends, and significant others. Want to know the greatest display of love?

Countdown: Six Days

In honor of the holiday of lovers, I'll be doing a Valentine's Day countdown this week :)

To start off, I decided to go back to the basics with a "Polyvore Loves" post - haven't seen that in a while, eh? I picked out a cute outfit that I could definitely find in my closet for a date night:

denim leggings: check
plaid tunic: check
sparkly hair pins: check
cute flats: check
white handbag: check

We usually "rock out" to a pretty calm and quiet holiday, so this outfit would be perfect for a night in or night out. My hubby made fantastic suppers for me for the past two years - celebrity chef inspired :) 2008 - Rachael Ray, 2009 - Michael Smith. Am I spoiled or what?
