Shootin' some b-ball

Anyone else in love with Groupon? We bought tickets for 4 for a Rainmen game last week. Luckily, while we were in Halifax on the weekend, there was a game so we didn't have to make another trip this winter. Tickets for four for $25! Can't beat that. Groupon's the best.

Heidi and Kenny went with us to the game. I've been watching my brothers' school basketball games for the past year, so it's kind of fun to watch a more experienced team in person. The Rainmen were playing Oshawa Power, a team from Ontario. They're part of the NBL, which is kind of a step up from university basketball.

We thought that we had the best seats in the house, but little did we know but the entire row behind us was a birthday party. A 8/9 year old birthday party. Nothing wrong with a group of little boys having fun, but this bunch? They were out. of. control. The parents were sitting in the row behind them and did nothing. The kids were screaming, dancing, and just generally being rude. I've never had a little kid's pelvis thrust into the back of my head so many times. Gross. 

Well, our team won 133 - 99. They broke a new record for highest points, which was pretty cool since we got to witness it. Nothing like starting the new year off with a bang! Halifax Rainmen got to break a record, and I got to see a cool basketball game. Win - win.

Christmas Re-cap

I was so sad when I realized that I didn't take any photos of our cute little Christmas tree over the holidays. Little did I know, but Daniel took a picture on Christmas morning! When I uploaded our latest photos onto our computer, I found it. So happy. 

This year was our sweetest tree ever - we went for a walk up the mountain behind our house and cut down a little tiny spruce tree. I only wanted a tabletop tree this year, and Dan spotted the perfect one. Sage came with us on our little outdoor adventure, too.

I wanted a simple Scandinavian vibe to our tree. I borrowed a galvanized bucket from Mom and we filled it with gravel. We made sure that the tree was safely wedged inside, then put one string of white lights around it. I used a bunch of mini glass bulbs in copper and gold and a few of my favourite ornaments. I love the way that it turned out!

Sage was pretty excited about Christmas, too. When I was filling his stocking (and by filling, I mean putting two things inside) he spotted the treats and was eager to get at the goods. He got some treats and a new Kong. Kongs are the only toys that he doesn't destroy. Every other type that we've tried ends up in little pieces. Lucky for Sage, this Christmas he got a brand new Kong to chomp on. You can tell that he's wagging in the picture :)

Well, once I publish this post, I'm off to take down our tree... my least favourite part of Christmas. Find the packaging, wrap the ornaments, take down the lights, throw out the tree. Boo hoo. I think I might leave some twinkly lights in the window, though :)

Multitude Monday

Happy New Year! Can you believe it's 2012?! We've been ringing in the new year in Haliwood with a couple of cool kids. And by cool kids, I mean Heidi and Kenny. They're great hosts - I'm so glad that we are able to spend some q-t with them!

Since it's Monday... and the first Monday of the month.... and the first Monday of the year... and I haven't written one in a little bit... I'm coming up with a Multitude post. Each time that I remember week, I create a list of things in my life that I'm thankful for. 

This week, I'm thankful for:

320 - winning a hardcore game of PIT!

321 - spending the weekend with pals

322 - safe travelling on the trip - three hours of highway driving

323 - having a very happy holiday with our families

324 - shopping with gift-cards aka free money

325 - blog brainstorming with Heidi

326 - watching a Rainmen game

327 - playing Taboo with my parents and brothers

328 - having snow on Christmas

329 - lots of new recipes to try (and groceries in the fridge!)
